Keep the Door Locked Shop Upgrades
Cash, flashlight, sanity, and walkspeed — what the shop actually buys.
Why the shop exists
Keep the Door Locked is still a camera-and-door game. The shop does not replace How to Play or Camera and Door Decisions. What it does is buy time and comfort: a brighter flashlight in a dark hallway, a slightly higher sanity buffer, and walkspeed that matters when a Nightmare corridor starts draining you.
Cash arrives from play and from promo codes. After the August 22, 2026 code rotation, the live strings are ENDING5 and NEWUISOON. Older grants (ROOM!, VISITS8MIL, FREECASH, FIRST_CODE) no longer redeem. Full tables live on the Codes hub. This page explains how to spend what you get.
The code name NEWUISOON is a developer hint that the left-side menus may move. Some August 24 roundups already describe redeeming through Shop instead of a separate CODE button. Rejoin a fresh server and use whichever live control actually opens the cash or code field. Do not paste strings into Discord bots or browser forms.
What cash is for
Cash is a short-term resource. Code roundups disagree on exact grant sizes for the new strings (about 5,000 versus 10,000, and some lists add a jumpscare token to NEWUISOON). Treat those numbers as reported ranges, not a shop price list. What matters is the use:
- Redeem before a serious ten-day attempt so shopping happens with a calm UI.
- Buy upgrades that support observation: flashlight for power outages and dark halls, sanity buffer before stressful nights, walkspeed before later events.
- Keep a small reserve if the hacked laptop asks for a 300 cash camera repair. Losing cameras is worse than delaying a walkspeed tick.
Cash will not complete Blood Money. That badge is a one-million milestone. A couple of code grants will not get you there, and they will not spawn Ending 2–5.
Flashlight
The flashlight is the shop upgrade that most often changes a night. You need it when lights fail and you leave the room for the breaker under the stairs — the Hotel Events page covers that sequence. You also need it when the Shadow Figure appears in a corner: shine until it leaves. A dim default light makes both jobs slower.
Spend early flashlight cash if you already struggle to read the hallway or the bathroom door. Do not wait until a power outage forces the first purchase under panic. After you upgrade, practice the aim: the beam is a tool, not a decoration.
Sanity purchases
Sanity still drops from stressful encounters and from the Nightmare corridor. Shop sanity upgrades raise the buffer; they do not delete the Losing It risk. Pair a sanity buy with pizza from a safe Pizza Man event and with sleep only after a legitimate guest is in the room. Never treat a shop tick as permission to stare at staged window or toilet anomalies.
If you are preparing a Blood Moon or katana night, buy the sanity step before the special visitor, not during the knock. Opening Shop while Door Breaker is charging is how cash gets you killed.
Walkspeed
Walkspeed looks optional until Nightmare or a hallway chase starts. Default speed can finish the lit-door run if your sanity started healthy. Upgraded speed makes the same corridor forgiving. It also helps when you leave the room for the breaker and want to return before the next knock.
Buy walkspeed when you already have a usable flashlight and a sanity cushion. Speed without light still leaves you lost under the stairs.
Tokens are not shop substitutes
Revive tokens and jumpscare tokens come from codes, not from the upgrade rows. A revive continues a caught run; it does not refund a wasted shop night. Jumpscare tokens unlock visual or feature items — they do not buy Ending 5. See Cash & Tokens after you redeem.
A safe shopping loop
- Join the official Keep the Door Locked experience on a fresh server.
- Redeem active codes using How to Redeem.
- Open Shop only when the room is quiet.
- Flashlight first if halls still look muddy, then sanity, then walkspeed.
- Close the menu and return to cameras before the next knock.
Use Survive 10 Days as the reason to shop. Use All Endings as the reason not to spend every coin chasing cosmetics. The shop exists so you can keep looking. Keep looking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the hotel room, visitors, and endings.
What should I buy first in the Keep the Door Locked shop?
Upgrade flashlight if dark halls or power outages already slow you, then sanity, then walkspeed. Keep a little cash for a 300 camera repair.
Do shop upgrades unlock endings?
No. Cash and upgrades buy comfort. Ending 1–5 still need cameras, rules, and the correct visitor or discovery choices.
Where does shop cash come from?
From play and from active codes. After August 22, 2026 the listed strings are ENDING5 and NEWUISOON. Check the Codes hub.
Is the code button still separate from Shop?
Some builds still show a left-side CODE button. Newer roundups describe redeeming inside Shop. Rejoin and use the live UI.
Will codes alone finish Blood Money?
No. Blood Money is a one-million milestone. Code grants are thousands of cash, not a shortcut to that badge.
