Keep the Door Locked Hotel Events
Pizza, cat, breaker, hazmat, and other nights that are not a simple knock.
Events are not the same as anomalies
Most knocks in Keep the Door Locked are visitor checks. Some nights instead drop a scripted hotel event: a delivery, a blackout, a helpful crew, or a follow-up phone call. Those scenes still need the camera and the peephole. They just have a different correct response than “keep every stranger out.”
This page groups the events walkthroughs describe most often. Hostile door threats stay on their own pages: Door Breaker, Knife Killer, Roach King, Spiders. The Nightmare corridor is split out because it is a sanity race, not a visitor.
Pizza Man
A delivery visitor can offer pizza. If the face, voice, and camera view look ordinary, accepting is usually safe. The box appears near the laptop. Eating a slice restores sanity — one of the two reliable recovery methods alongside legal sleep. See Sanity Guide.
Do not treat every pizza knock as automatic. Compare the visitor with camera tells on All Anomalies. If the texture, limbs, or transparency look wrong, keep the door locked. Leftover pizza also attracts Roach King, who will eat slices if you let him in. That visit is widely treated as harmless, but it spends food you may want later.
The cat
A woman may arrive with a black cat and ask if it is yours. It is not. If you take it, the cat stays in the room. You must refill food and water each day. In return, the cat can absorb one anomaly attack and then disappear.
The cat is a limited insurance policy, not a license to open blindly. Feed it on a survival run toward Survive 10 Days. Skip the extra chore if you are already juggling window stages and a research ending.
Power outage
When the lights die, you leave the room. The breaker sits under the stairs in the hallway. Take the flashlight — shop upgrades on Shop Upgrades make this trip readable. Flip the breaker and return. Do not wander the dark hall looking for secrets; the next knock will not wait.
If cameras or the laptop also fail, that may be the separate hacked laptop fee, not the breaker. Pay or restore power first, then resume the door loop.
Hazmat crew and ceiling spiders
Two people in hazmat suits can warn you about spiders in the vents. Walkthroughs treat them as friendly: let them in and they can clear spiders already in the room. Ceiling spiders are the matching nuisance; bug spray removes them if you have it. Standing under bursting egg sacs is how Spiders end a night.
Still check the camera. A “crew” with wrong limbs or a translucent body is not the event. The suits are a costume until the footage agrees.
Knife Guy follow-up
You may see a slasher-like figure with a knife through the peephole who then runs away. You do not need to chase him. Later, the front desk may call about the situation. That delayed call is part of the event chain, not a reason to open the next random knock. The hostile version that stays at the door is Knife Killer.
Katana Man as an event
A swordsman who wants to hunt the Window Seeker is both an event and Ending 4. Letting him use the room leads to a broken window and the Katana Ending route. Refusing him keeps a normal survival night. Do not mix this visitor into a grandma-key or golden-skeleton research run.
Door Breaker and Shadow Man reminders
If the peephole shows the tall grinning bald figure, hide under the bed — full steps on Survive the Door Breaker. If a tall shadow stands in the corner, hold the flashlight on it until it leaves — Banish the Shadow Figure. Those are combat-adjacent events, not shop or pizza problems.
Dreams versus Nightmare
Later sleep can drop you into a multi-door dream room. That state belongs with the Dream Room badge page: Dream Room. A sudden dark corridor that drains sanity is Nightmare. Do not use the middle-door dream trick inside the Nightmare hallway.
How to use this page during a run
- Identify whether the knock is a visitor tell or a named event.
- Camera first, then peephole, then the smallest safe response.
- Log pizza, cat food, breaker trips, and phone calls so you do not confuse them with ending clues.
- Return to Rules Explained if an event collides with “never sleep alone.”
Events exist to break the rhythm. The winning habit is the same as every other night: look, compare, then act. Keep the door locked until the event is the one you actually want.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the hotel room, visitors, and endings.
Should I accept pizza in Keep the Door Locked?
Yes if the delivery visitor looks normal on camera and through the peephole. Pizza restores sanity. Refuse if the visitor shows anomaly tells.
Is the black cat worth taking?
Yes on a long survival run. Feed it daily. It can save you from one anomaly attack, then it leaves.
Where is the breaker during a power outage?
Leave the room and look under the stairs in the hallway. Use the flashlight, flip the breaker, and return.
Are the hazmat workers safe?
Walkthroughs treat a normal-looking hazmat pair as helpful against spiders. Still verify on camera before you open.
Is Nightmare the same as Dream Room?
No. Dream Room is a multi-door sleep state tied to a badge. Nightmare is a dark corridor that drains sanity. Use the dedicated Nightmare guide.
